Embida has developed high-end communication systems used in harsh environment for the oil-and gas industry.
Embida has since 2010 worked in close collaboration with Proserv (formerly known as Sicom and Weatherford Subsea Control) in developing high-end communication systems used in harsh environment for the oil-and gas industry. The projects involves design and development of high-speed OFDM-based power-line modem and patented DS-CDMA downhole temperature/pressure sensor communication system. Embida provides expertise in FPGA, communication theory and signals processing together with electrical design.
Embida AS has worked with Wärtsilä’s R&D department in developing the next generation medium voltage power drives. The drive is based on press-pack IGBT transistor technology with 3-level PWM inverter control.
Embida AS is a key collaborator with Wärtsilä on specifications, design and implementation of the internal communication and control system in the drive. Extreme requirements regarding timing, noise immunity and fault handling in the system are solved with an innovative new synchronous packet-based communication protocol and event handling, fully implemented using modern FPGA technology.
Embida has designed the electronics for a subsea control system used in valve regulation.
